Mural of Abu Tor/Al-Thuri was a community art project to beautify and brighten up the neighbourhood under the artistic guidance of Artoulation and local artists. The project was initiated by the residential environmental group which designated a rooftop as the location of a future placemaking initiative to be developed by Palestinians and Israelis for community usage. The project was completed in cooperation with: Good neighbours project, American house and A-Thuri secondary school for girls. Local residents, mostly teenage girls, executed a 15-meter outdoor mural overlooking a picturesque view of Jerusalem, together with an environmental sculpture created out of recycled discarded materials. The project lasted one week. 50 residents came to the unveiling ceremony. The location holds public activities and numerous groups and individuals visit the mural every week.
